Reimagining The Animation Workflow: Animatic and Adobe Creative Cloud
Sketch on the go and bring your animations to life in Creative Cloud
Coming up with that next big idea is like capturing lightning in a bottle. Inspiration strikes at any time, but these moments are fleeting. New tools like Animatic, a popular mobile app for creating hand-drawn animations for beginners and professionals alike, helps animators bring their ideas to life when they’re on the go.

A new update to the Animatic animation tool is helping creators take their concepts to the next level. It’s made possible through seamless integration with a creator’s essential tool for transforming ideas into finished products: Adobe Creative Cloud.
“We know how much people love and rely on Adobe software to create. For us it was important to deliver a seamless integration between Animatic and Adobe Creative Cloud” — Darren Paul, Co-founder of Animatic.
With Animatic and Adobe Creative Cloud, you can start an animation on your phone or tablet while riding the subway and, when you get to your computer, send the work to Creative Cloud storage or directly to Photoshop CC to refine it further. You can also use an iPad Pro in your home studio to sketch out animations, then bring it into Adobe Creative Cloud to access at work for final production.

The integration allows users to take the work they started in Animatic on their phone or tablet and migrate it over to their favorite Adobe apps within the Creative Cloud family.
Developing on The Creative Cloud Platform
The Animatic team turned to the rich set of SDK and API services offered by the Adobe Creative Cloud Platform through Adobe.io. Their challenge was to make the hand-off from hand-sketched animations in Animatic over to Adobe Creative Cloud as seamless as possible. To achieve this, they ultimately chose to use the powerful Send to Desktop and AdobeAssetFile APIs, which provided a smooth integration with Adobe Photoshop CC and Creative Cloud files.

“The experience of registering the integration on the Adobe.io Console was very straightforward. The UI is intuitive and all elements are properly labeled. One thing that I was very impressed with is the Insights section, it wasn’t something I’d expected to be in place. Right now it offers basic analytics about the integration that allows us to monitor the API calls made over time. I’m looking forward to seeing how this evolves. The Creative SDK itself is very easy to understand once you have identified the subset of functionality to leverage for your product,” said Ramon Torres, co-founder and CTO of Animatic.
Le Zeng, Senior Mobile Engineer: “We found the developer guides to be extremely helpful. We used the Send to Desktop and Creative Cloud Files APIs, for which guides are available. Just by following them step-by-step, I was able to have working prototypes within minutes,” added Le Zeng, Animatic’s senior mobile engineer.
